Dear
Members of the Rotary family in District 1980,
In November, I
had the privilege to attend the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Rotary
Club Muttenz-Wartenberg and the Rotary Club Balsthal.
Both
clubs radiated a wonderful spirit of fellowship, enthusiasm, and service. It is
inspiring to see how they are thriving - strong, active, and already looking
forward to the next 50 years of making a difference. Moments like these remind
us what it truly means to be part of the Rotary family.
Now,
as we step into December, we embrace a season of reflection, gratitude, and
renewed commitment. December is Rotary’s month of Disease Prevention and
Treatment, one of our seven focus areas and a mission that continues to save
and transform lives around the world.
Preventable
diseases still affect millions - not only due to lack of solutions, but because
access to care and education remains uneven. Through service and global
partnership, Rotary stands as a beacon of hope.
Together,
we:
- Strengthen access to basic
and advanced medical care
- Promote health education
and early detection
- Support mental wellbeing
and fight stigma
- Advance life-saving
immunization - especially our unwavering fight against polio
- Train and equip healthcare
workers in at-risk communities
Here
in District 1980, we proudly live our motto Team Up! Each club, every Rotarian, and numerous projects play
a vital role in fostering healthier communities and shaping a promising future.
By working together, we multiply our impact.
During
this Advent and Christmas season, let us also remember those who may struggle
quietly - and offer support, empathy, and the warmth of friendship. Small acts
from generous hearts and helping hands can change a life.
Thank
you for your passion and dedication throughout 2025. Because of you, Rotary
remains a powerful force for healing and hope.
I
wish you and your families a blessed Advent, a joyful Christmas, and - in true
Rotary spirit - good health for all of us and our families in the New Year. May
2026 bring peace, happiness, and many opportunities to continue to Team Up! for
and Unite for Good in our communities and around the world.
With warm Rotary regards,
John
